My Daily Routine As a Stay-At-Home Mom

We all have a certain routine that works for us. Whether you work 50 hours a week, you do certain tasks on specific days, or even your routine at the store. Everyone lives by a routine, no matter how big or how small. Learning routine from day one of life. Newborns usually wake up every 2-4 hours, to get changed, feed, burped, and back to sleep. The more you grow, the more your routine changes.

Once you hit adulthood, it is your responsibility to establish a routine. To maintain your physical health, mental health, hygiene, and sometimes keeping your friends (no body would want to hang out if you smelled like a dirty jockstrap.. just saying).

I had very little routine for a long time (except Zoey's) and it took me hitting 250lbs and barely being able to get off the couch to realize that I needed to get myself in gear. I got myself on a fitness routine, I started waking up earlier, and ate at normal hours. Slowly, I was getting better.

My routine works perfectly for my family and me. It isn't a strict schedule and I don't do the exact same thing everyday.

Wake up:
I usually wake up to Zoey shaking me between 7-8 o' clock. Recently, I have been waking up before her around 6:30. That gives me time to watch the news, have some coffee, and sometimes have breaskfast...in the peace and quiet. Josh doesn't wake up until 7:15 on the weekdays for work.

Mornings:
First thing Zoey and I do is read a book (right now it is reading big sister books over and over again). She has always hated me reading books, but now she sits next to me and listens. Next, she watches her cartoons while she wakes up (takes her a while) and I get my bullet journal ready for the day. I turn on the laptop, check my emails, check Pinterest for anything inspirational, start my blog post, and drink my coffee.
After about an hour, we get breakfast... Well, I do at least. Zoey doesn't like to eat...period. I try and finish up on the laptop, get dressed and start playing with Zoey. Since I don't post on Wednesdays, I usually start playing with her earlier. On the weekends, we wake up Josh around 10 and have a late breakfast.

Afternoons:
I usually let Zoey tell me what she wants to do in the afternoon. Either the park, play at home, color, or whatever she wants. Every other day, she gets a bath before lunch. On Saturdays, I do some deep cleaning and we run some errands. On Sundays, we usually go over to his dad's house and hang out for the day. We "eat" lunch around 2 o' clock then pick up some of the toys. We play some more while we watch cartoons or if I'm lucky, a show I want to watch haha. We have been potty training the few weeks, so I try and stay in the living room.
Josh and I spend about an hour playing with Zoey or just relaxing from 5-6 o' clock. Once it hits 6, I grab my phone, turn on the music and start dishes. Josh occupies Zoey so she doesn't pull me away from the kitchen and sometimes she has a snack... again, she really doesn't eat. Dishes usually takes me about an hour... everyday...without a dishwasher... I'm still not used to doing it by hand haha.
After dishes, I start dinner. Sometimes, I have to start dinner early and kind of go back and forth between dishes and dinner (thank god for music!!). And sometimes, if I don't really feel up to dinner, we have left overs or something quick and easy (pregnancy can be exhausting). It's usually the same way on the weekends.
After dinner, we sit and watch tv and Zoey lays on the couch and watches some cartoons, I love that she likes more educational shows. At 8:30-9, we take her to bed. This has been her bedtime routine for over a year and has worked great! Before that, it took hours to get her to fall asleep. I'm not planning on changing it until she is ready. But! When we say bedtime, it's bedtime.
Every now and then she will fall asleep later in the afternoon and take a short nap. That makes it extremely hard to get her to bed, so we let her stay up for another hour.
After she is in bed, Josh and I spend time together; talking, cuddling, playing a game, or zoning out into the tv and our phones.

Not everyday works out the same way, but it's a rough draft and it works great for us.
