We have had a crazy couple days that have kept me from y'all. :(
This giant castle is one of the reasons. I have been in and out of this thing so many times. Zoey plays with it non-stop! Of course, my parents got it for her (because everything they get her is giant). I'm not complaining too much. As long as it keeps her busy. Another reason is a driving lesson. I'm not a bad driver, I'm just soo rusty. It won't take long to get my license. The last reason is a project that has taken me longer than it should have (Zoey likes to help me with EVERYTHING).
If you are anything like Josh or me, then you have a giant pile of mail occupying either a desk, counter, or even your dining room table. For us, our dining room table is right next to our side door...It's our mail dumping ground.
Instead of having to figure out what to do with it once a week, I decided to make a box for the mail.. yes a mail box! GENIUS!! I have yet to get it on the wall, but it will eventually....by Josh.
So, let me show you how I did it!
1. I took a box and cut off the top... flaps? Is that what they are called? That's what I'm going to call them. Chop off the top flaps only. I suggest a box cutter, because I started with scissors and it hurt my fingers two minutes in haha.
You can choice the size of the box, but if you want to put it up on the wall, make sure it won't get too heavy to be supported.
2. I cut handles on each side. no need to perfect. It also makes the box quite a bit smaller.
You can skip this step if you don't want "fancy" handles.
3. I didn't own any red paper or fabric, so I just painted white paper red... yeah.. I know. I recommend going a different route like wrapping paper if you are a perfectionist.
It doesn't look bad at all.
The inside is still a plain brown, but if it is hanging on the wall.. it won't be that noticeable. You probably caught the corner coming down and exposing the print underneath. I wasn't going to waste my time to fix it, because it's getting covered up.
4. I wrapped white ribbon around the top and a mail sign for some character.
Our kitchen colors are red and blue, and I wanted to keep the flow.
I will update this post with a picture when it gets put up on the wall.
There will probably be a lot of DIY posts and house posts, we are cracking down and working hard before Little Man gets here. (14 weeks!!!)
If you have any suggestions or tips please comment. I am more than happy to get them. It would help me so much.
